The iBoost Pro D8 – works with iPads, Tablets, Laptops & Smart Phones
Now Available with an optional Carry / Storage Case
Due to customers requesting a suitable method of storing and transporting their iBoost system, we have commissioned a new carry case. The cases are made from high impact ABS with a precision cut CNC foam insert, designed to store the iBoost Antenna, Micro Router, Bracket (in two parts), Network Cable, 12v Power Supply and even the optional Mains Adapter in the minimum possible space.
The cases are 27cm x 22cm x 9cm (10.6″ x 8.7″ x 3.5″ approx) – slightly smaller than the box your iBoost will be delivered in.
The iBoost D8 Directional System serves to both boost the externally available WiFi signal and repeat that signal at full strength inside your van, creating your own secure network with your own unique security code. This means that the system is compatible with any device which is WiFi enabled – connect your laptop, iPad, tablet, smartphone and even kindle – all at the same time! No drivers to install on your devices and no wires between you and the system.
The antenna can be positioned outside or inside using the suction bracket supplied, drilling holes is not necessary. As the system is temporary, simply bring the cable in through a window or rooflight and plug it into the back of your router. The iBoost antenna is weatherproof so you can leave it outside when in one static location, just make sure you bring it back inside when traveling. The Personal Hotspot is a small footprint wireless router with a sleek appearance and a built in WiFi antenna for your local network, capable of upto 150Mbps via the latest Wireless N standard (B/G also supported). One extra network connection is available on the back of the router should you wish to connect any wired devices to the system as well.
Simple Suction Mounted Antenna
The web interface has been fully customised by MotorhomeWiFi to allow you to easily setup the system using any device with a web browser. Simply turn the system on and connect to the secure hotspot named ‘iBoost’ using the passcode printed on the side of the router. Once connected you can load the iBoost web interface which will ask you to select an available network. The iBoost antenna has a 90 degree field of view so fine tuning is a breeze, only minor adjustment of the antenna may be required. Once setup the system will remember the settings allowing you to connect additional devices with no setting up required.
The range of the external antenna is difficult to qualify, since you are connecting to a network over which you have no control. The antenna is preconfigured to work at the maximum permissible limit for the UK and Europe. The range of the internal hotspot (your local WiFi signal) is upto 50m – giving you the ability to connect outside or even give your friends the key so they can access your hotspot in the van next door! Power the system off and on again and provided you haven’t moved location, it will reconnect to the last known network.
If you would like to power your system via 3 pin plug / 240v mains – you can purchase an adapter by clicking here

The range can be 5 – 10 times what your device can achieve on its own depending on terrain and environmental conditions and is usually more than adequate for connecting to nearby WiFi when parked in the vicinity of the hot spot. A directional antenna has the benefit of focusing a narrow beam of energy in one direction and thus massively increasing the possible distance you can achieve a connection over.
iBoost FAQ
How easy is your iBoost WiFi systems to operate?
Very easy. If you can turn on your device (iPad, Laptop etc) and open a web page then you can use the iBoost.
What are the options for mounting my antenna?
The directional iBoost comes with a strong suction mount which often surprises our customers. Provided both the suction clamp and the intended surface are clean, and the pad is moistened a little before applying to a smooth surface, you should have no issue in attaching it firmly.
The directional antenna has a bracket which gives it 180 degrees of movement and can be mounted externally or internally facing out of a window. In addition the unit has a pole mount and can be secured using a cable tie or clip (not supplied).
The omni-directional antenna also comes with a pole mounting kit.
Is the system easy to setup? Even for a beginner?
The iBoost system is dispatched pre-configured by us and so initial setup by you is kept to a minimum. Having sold a great number of iBoost systems to customers with a huge range of abilities, we are confident that the system is easy to use. Once you are familiar with the system you can be up and running in just a couple of minutes!
The trick is to follow the instructions exactly as written the first time and take your time. We write the supplied instruction leaflet ourselves and are of course on hand should you struggle at any stage of the setup.
If I use a connection like Caravan Club with a web login (a captive portal) can I still use my iBoost?
Yes, you can. Just connect to the hotspot as normal without placing a password into the iBoost as the network will likely be unsecured. Once connected, attempt to navigate to google.com or another web page and the captive portal will load in its place.
How do I connect my device, such as an iPad, to the iBoost?
The iBoost generates a local secure hotspot, the password for which is printed on the underside of the internal router. Once connected, your device will likely remember the network and connect automatically when in range.
How many devices can I use at the same time?
The iBoost will support upto 99 concurrently connected devices.
How much power does the iBoost draw?
In EU power mode, where the WiFi is as powerful as permitted by law in the EU, the iBoost takes just 1A @ 12v.
Does the iBoost have any wired LAN connections? Can I use my network hard drive / printer?
Yes, the iBoost has one LAN socket to connect another device to your internal network. This network functions like any other and so you can use a network printer or hard drive even without an external internet connection.
